May I please say how much I love these pants? Wait— why am I asking permission? This is my blog! Of course I can speak of — nay, shout about! — my love for these pants. Ahem: I really like these pants. I don’t often teach in trousers (if only because my only “trousers” until recently were, well, jeans), but the torrential rain and 40 mph winds here in OR make skirts and dresses… dangerous. Therefore, this morning I threw on these new pants and MAN, now I wish I had them in every color. I love them! This is the third time I’ve worn them, but the first time they’ve shown up here on the blog, mostly because I haven’t figured out how to make them work in the winter yet (they’re actually capris, but the boots hide that). But this morning, as the rain and wind howled, I decided to stick ‘em into my socks, shove ‘em into my boots, and rock the bright red pant all day. I am pretty pleased with the results.
And now: teaching!

Love these red pants, and they look great layered with the boots and socks
Happy Monday!
I like your pants as well, but what I’ve been really meaning to gush about for a while now is this: YOUR OFFICE. Your office is so beautiful! Real wooden bookshelves! Gorgeous squishy armchair! And I feel like I’ve seen a photo that suggested you even have a WINDOW. It’s possible I chose the wrong graduate school. That’s all I’m sayin’.
Unless you aren’t IN your office. But for some reason my brain said you were. Still. PRETTY ROOM.
Haha, thank you! It most definitely is my office, it most definitely does have a window, and it most definitely is amazing. My office mate and I put a lot of work into making it this lovely — we documented the process here http://thelifeacademic.wordpress.com/2011/09/18/officious-before-to-middle/ and here http://thelifeacademic.wordpress.com/2011/09/24/officious-the-finalish-object/
We do consider ourselves pretty lucky!
I have similar pants in red, purple and yellow. I find red the hardest to pull off because I have in my head the idea that you need a certain type of personality to pull it off! Which I don’t think I have! You, on the other hand, look great!!!
Thank you — I’m going to consider that a huge compliment!
I really like the red pants!
Gracias!
